Requesting/providing references after an interview

RRHH Digital. After interviewing the best-qualified candidates, one important thing as an employer is checking references, which will help in the decision making to select the best applicant. The main idea is to verify the candidate’s job related qualifications and skills, thus ensure a successful hire.

A reference can be provided by a supervisor, a co-worker or even a client; it should always be someone capable of giving clear information about the candidate’s skills and abilities to perform towards the position being filled.

Candidates should be prepared to give a list of references –at least two- who can talk about his/her skills and qualifications with the potential employer. It is suggested to provide references that know the candidate’s work habits well and advise them beforehand about the call they might receive from the hiring manager.
