How to Interview for a Job

You've probably heard about the importance of making a good impression in a job interview. This is the most important stage of the selection process, as it is the interviewer's chance to know you personally and it offers him enough data to form an opinion of you.

 

DO:

-        Show enthusiasm

-        Arrive about 10 – 15 minutes early

-        Give a firm handshake

-        Ask for the job

DO NOT:

-        Eat or smoke during the interview

-        Criticize former employers

-        Wear sunglasses

-        Cover your mouth when you speak

Men Wear:

-        Navy or gray suits

-        Long-sleeved white or light blue shirts

-        Ties with small patterns

Women wear (or carry):

-        A gray or dark colored suit or dress with a jacket

-        A conservative white or pastel blouse

-        A briefcase

Men do not wear:

-        Beards

-        A lot of cologne, aftershave, hair spray, or gel

-        Jewelry other than a watch and a wedding ring

Women do not wear (or carry):

-        A purse

-        A lot of cologne, perfume, hair spray, mousse, or gel

-        Excessive jewelry other than a watch and a ring
